NO RATE INCREASE is MOVING - We'll be at www.StopUI.com
OOPS -- THEY DID IT AGAIN!!
.

Despite a massive rate increase awarded by the SC Public Utilities Commision to Tega Cay Water Service (TCWS) in February 2013 (which -- according to TCWC  was to cover costs for the upgrades to the system)Tega Cay Water Service (parent company Utilites Inc) has had ANOTHER major spill into Lake Wylie.

The Tega Cay Citizens Advisory Council was advised by DHEC of 2 spills the night/morning of May 5-6, and at the time we visited Waste Water Treatment Plant #2 about 10:30 am, the ground at WWT2 was mostly underwater, as was much of the golf course in the surrounding area.  As we were there, the spill was still not under control, and sewage continued to spew out of the treatment system. WORSE YET -- we watched as a river of sewage flowed into the stormwater drain and then empty into the lake several yards away.

If the reporting of this inexcuseable event doesn't disgust you --

We say again -- ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. We are hopeful that DHEC, our elected officials, the City of Tega Cay, the EPA -- SOMEONE will now think that the regular occurrence of these sewage spills is inexcusable and MAKE IT STOP!

 IMPORTANT INFORMATION

TCWS asked that most of the public testimony be stricken from the record of both hearings, due to an assortment of reasons -- from 'the events happened outside of the test year' to ' the testimony is undocumented / is hearsay'

TCWS has made clear that no issues with customer service, billing, water quality, water and sewer line issues and more will be considered in any hearing unless it is properly documented.  For this reason, we will be posting a Complain Form for TCWS customers to use for any future concerns, issues or problems.   This form can be submitted, and a copy will be sent to the Tega Cay Water Citizens Advisory Council, TCWS and all appropriate state agencies. We will keep you posted concerning this form, but it is CRITICAL that all issues be documented properly if we are to make any headway with this company.

Tega Cay deserves better.
